Arches Oil Paper- Huile is a high-quality paper with a surface designed for use in oil painting. Since 1492, Arches has been producing finest materials for art and literary greats to inspire artists. Arches paper is made in the village of Arches in the Vosges, France. The high-quality water supplied by river provides optimum conditions to produce excellent paper.
Arches Oil Paper has an exceptionally tough surface. It withstands heavy brushing with stiff bristle brushes, as well as wet paint removal with turpentine and a rag. It also stands up well to palette knives. This paper is "ready to use" without preparation, making it less brittle and stiff than gessoed papers and more resistant to chipping or cracking.
Arches Oil Paper is 100% cotton, 300 gsm is suitable for marouflage. Its grain is comparable to that of a stretched canvas, which makes for comfortable working and requires no prior preparation. Arches Oil Paper features a powerful oil barrier that absorbs water, solvents and binder but allows paints and pigments to sit up on the surface for a vibrant effect. Thanks to its semi-absorbent surface, the paint stays on the surface for an excellent rendering of the colours and faster drying times.
